The Location: Wyanoak Carriage House is located within the Highlands, NC town limits near Mirror Lake. It's just far enough from the beaten path that guests are tucked away in the woods, but only a mile's drive to all the shopping, dining, and nightlife on Main Street. Take a quick walk down to Mirror Lake and enjoy the canoe, which is accessible to our guests.
The Property: Wyanoak Carriage House located on a 1+ acre lot that's shielded from the street by a wall of thick evergreens. We own the adjacent wooded lot, giving the property an element of privacy and beautiful views of nature. From the carriage house, guests can admire beautiful landscaping that is indigenous to the area.
The Cabin: Wyanoak Carriage House has wood ceilings, wide-plank hardwood floors, and the most comfortable bedding you're likely to find.
The Layout: Guests wind around the carriage house via their own private entrance. Past the fire pit with Adirondack Chairs, guests enter the studio. The full kitchen is on the far wall with a queen bed to the left (under the front bank of windows) and the sofa is on the right along with a door to the single bath with tub/shower combo. There is a walk in closet and built in wormwood cabinetry for storage. Guests staying longer than 1 week have access to the washer/dryer in the garage.
The Area: Highlands, NC is the premier mountain destination in the Southeast. Lined with shopping, dining, museums and galleries, the bustling mountain village centering around Main Street is straight from a Norman Rockwell painting. Previously a summer/fall hotspot, it's quickly becoming a year-round destination. At 4,118 feet, it's one of the few temperate rain forests in North America, bringing botanists and nature lovers from all over the world.
Highlands is also a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. With an abundance of opportunities for biking, hiking, horseback riding, tubing, canoeing, fly fishing, and whitewater rafting, adventure-seekers will not find a more beautiful backdrop.
The Details: A desk area is located across from the sofa. This area is also equipped with a large flat screen TV with fiber-optic cable and wifi. The kitchen has a drip coffee-maker is stocked with general kitchen essentials and then some. All of our cabins are pet friendly with prior approval and a nominal pet fee. Parking is available for ONE car.
