Welcome to BIGHORN LODGE and the cabins at Jo Love Meadows! This is a custom log home located on Jo Love Ranch and is adjacent to Sharon's Meadow. The area is widely known for its extensive variety of wildlife, including bighorn sheep, mule deer, elk and other various small game. The log home is surrounded by stunning views and they are all yours through each of the windows! Mt Princeton Hot springs is just 3 miles from the lodge. The cabin base price is for 8 guests. There' is a pet fee of $25 per night per pet and an extra guests fee of $25 per guest per night for over 8 guests.
History
History
Jo Witchey was drawn to the splendor of the Rocky Mountains and moved from Mansfield, Ohio, to Denver. In 1925, Jo moved to Chalk Creek Canyon, where 14,000-foot peaks framed the valley. On an ascent of the Mount Princeton (14,197') she met a wrangler and hunting guide named Mark Love, whom she later married. They bought a small ranch in Chalk Creek Canyon, started a cabin camp for summer vacationers, and named it Love Ranch.
After four years of marriage, Mark was killed in a horse accident. Although Jo was heartbroken over Mark's death, she stayed for over 40 years to run the ranch and entertain guests. One frequent guest and friend of Jo's was Alex Haley, the author of Roots, and President Dwight D. Eisenhower visited a cabin included in Bighorn Lodge complex.
