Welcome to A DIFFERENT Frame of Mind!
There is something truly DIFFERENT about this home. It is not your typical OBX rental. You notice it as soon as you set eyes on the gorgeous wooden front door... and can't help but smile when you realize that the old "speak-easy" window in the door actually opens. The wine barrel sink in the bathroom definitely gives off that "vibe" that this home is truly unique!
The location of this home is also special. It a direct waterfront home located on a deep water canal with a newly built private dock. It is a straight shot out to the Albemarle Sound making it a perfect rental for those with their own boats or jet skis. No boat? You are welcome to use the two single kayaks included with your rental to explore the canals. Relax on the dock, enjoy the sunset and then the stars, or even jump in and go for a swim in the canal.
Rather swim in a pool? Your rental includes use of the community inground pool overlooking the bay. The pool is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. There is a playground, picnic area, and small beach area there also. It is truly an amazing location to enjoy sunset.
Basketball and tennis courts also also located within the community for your enjoyment. (They do charge a small fee for guests to use the boat ramp - approx $25 per week). If it is off-season or less than ideal weather, you can also purchase a short term pass to the Outer Banks YMCA and swim in their heated indoor pool.
This unique outer banks rental has two bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms. There is also a fully enclosed private outdoor shower.
There is a queen bed in the master with a private half bathroom. The second bedroom also features a queen bed and a twin boat bed with pull out trundle. Additionally there is a loveseat that pulls out to a full size bed in the living room.
(Please note, that when the trundle under the boat bed is pulled out that there is only a very narrow path between all the beds in that room, but we understand sometimes "the more the merrier." It is a tiny house at just over 1200 SF.)
It is approximately a 3 to 4 miles down scenic Colington Road to the direct oceanfront. We will send you a link to all the hidden public parking spots.
This 1970 vintage A-Frame was one of the first homes to be built in Colington Harbour, a gated deep water access community located just behind the Wright Brother's Memorial in heart of Kill Devil Hills, NC. It has undergone a complete rehabilitation in 2017 to renovate and restore the home's character with a modern twist. The gold sconces in the bathroom are original to the home as are the plates from the late 1960's that have stayed with the home since the original owners.
Even the contractors who worked on the extensive renovation couldn't help but smile and say "Wow! This house is cool!" It definitely has A GOOD VIBE!
