Welcome to "Altitude Adjustment"! A peaceful and private cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains, with INCREDIBLE views. Nestled away on almost 4 acres at the top of a gated mountain community, you can watch both the sunrise and sunset from the massive back porch, stargaze from the HOT TUB, relax by the FIRE PIT, or lay in the master loft bedroom with huge windows overlooking the mountains. Bring your pups to enjoy the private yard!
The GATED community offers miles private hiking trails, waterfalls, & a fully stocked community fishing pond! The community is located a short distance to Boone, Blowing Rock, West Jefferson, Wilkesboro, and the Blue Ridge Parkway - with tons of things to enjoy. Kayaking, fishing, hiking, paragliding, tubing, scenic drives, ATV tours, breweries and vineyards, shopping, & dining.
Updated in Summer 2022, we have designed our cabin to have everything our small family would want in the mountains. Whether it be a hot tub & fire pit with unobstructed views of the Blue Ridge Parkway, a huge porch where you can capture both sunrises and sunsets, a covered outdoor grilling area, a private yard for the dogs, or even a recreation area where we can play ping-pong and corn hole without leaving the house.
Our cabin is extremely private (you cannot see any neighboring homes), but the neighborhood and location adds a huge value. We live in a gated - very safe - community. The community maintains miles of private hiking trails only available to residents/guests which include a 70-foot waterfall, great views, streams & swimming holes, a fully stocked fishing pond, and an outdoor recreation area.
Our interior is cozy and rustic; exactly what you would want in a mountain home. You will enjoy mountain views from all of the living spaces (kitchen, living room, dining room), as well as incredible views directly from the Master Loft - where you can watch the sunrise or stargaze from your King-sized bed.
The kitchen has all of the basics that you need to cook a full meal - oven, stove, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, and we keep it stocked with basic cooking supplies. There is also a propane grill outdoors.
Our dining area has a nice sized kitchen table with seating for 4, and is great for a daytime working space, or family board games (we provide some)! We also have 4 barstools at the kitchen counter.
Extremely important - we have modern necessities that are sometimes hard to find in mountain rentals. 500/500mbps fiber internet, Live TV, Streaming Services, decent cell phone coverage (carrier dependent), central HVAC. If you are working from home, we have a desk and a office chair in the downstairs bedroom.
In the basement leading out to the hot tub, fire pit, and yard area is an array of recreational games that you can enjoy during your stay. Please note that this area is not heated/cooled, so enjoyment is at your discretion & comfort.
We are not available in person, but we are available through the app 24/7. We have handymen and cleaning people who live within 10 minutes of our cabin, who can come in the event of an emergency.
You will require a car to get around the neighborhood, however you can feel to walk on the roads. We have parking for 2 vehicles directly in front of the house. There is free parking at all of the community amenities.
Enjoyment of our home will require the ability to climb stairs. It is not ideal for physically disabled guests.
Our cabin is located approximately 10 minutes up a mountain, so most destinations are 15-35min away. The roads are paved (with the exception of about 0.2mi of gravel road) and well maintained, but they are mountain roads with many switchbacks (and great views!). We encourage only traveling up/down the mountain during daylight, and in the event of winter weather - 4WD vehicles are strongly encouraged.
-Check-in after 4:00pm, Check-out before 10:00am.
-ALL trash must be taken to the community dumpster, approximately 5 minutes away (see directions in guidebook). -YOU are responsible for your trash. Under NO circumstances should trash, or food, be left outside.
-NO SMOKING, including on the back porch. One of our children is highly allergic.
-NO PARTIES OR EVENTS. I cannot stress this enough. This is a family cabin, not a party or gathering cabin. We have a 4 guest, 2 car, maximum.
-NO GUESTS outside of the reservation are permitted at any point, without direct permission from the host.
-NO loud noise from 10:30pm - 6:30am.
-DO NOT leave pets or children outside unattended, including on the balcony.
-NO food or drinks in the bedrooms.
-NO pets on the furniture, or pets not listed in the reservation.
-DO NOT lean on or push on the balcony railings.
-DO NOT add water to the hot tub on your own.
-DO NOT hang anything from the balcony or railings.
-DO NOT leave the AC / Heat on with the screen doors open.
-PLEASE remove your shoes at the front door.
-RESPECT the neighbors, and neighborhood.
