Welcome to "The Nut House"! At The Nut House, we believe that no one should be left behind. We will allow you to bring your four-legged family member, under 50 pounds only, with you for a onetime nonrefundable pet fee of $75 (plus tax) per pet. This fee does not cover excessive pet hair or damages caused by your pet. Isn't it wonderful that for once you won't have to wonder how your best friend is doing in the kennel back home?

Our cabin is pet friendly. However, there is a separate pet fee for each pet. If bringing your four-legged family member, please ensure that you did pay the pet fee on your reservation by contacting management at High Mountain Cabin Rentals.
However, this cabin is located on a graveled mountain road. During the snowy times, you most likely will need a 4-wheel drive/AWD vehicle and possibly chains. Very low profile vehicles may have an issue with access as there are a couple of speed bumps along the way up year around.
This great and beautiful cabin offers 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a nicely stocked kitchen, NEW hot tub coming Spring 2023, a beautiful floor to ceiling stacked stone gas fireplace (seasonal), Wi-Fi, spacious living room and that cabin feel you've been looking for. There is also a 2-in-1 game table with a pool table on one side and an air hockey game on the other.
Once inside you'll find 2 bedrooms on the main floor. The 1st bedroom offers a queen size bed with a flat screen TV. The 2nd bedroom offers a set of bunk beds and another flat screen TV. The master suite is located on the upper level with a king size bed, En Suite bathroom, a large TV, and a cozy electric fireplace. There is also a sleeper sofa in the living room (not recommended for anyone over the age of 12 years old).
The kitchen is nicely stocked with most items needed to prepare your favorite meal, including a Keurig coffee brewer, a gas stove top range, a crock pot, and more. The dining area comfortably seats 6 guests with additional seating at the breakfast bar.
"The Nut House" is conveniently located only minutes to downtown West Jefferson, Mount Jefferson State Park, shopping, dining, canoeing, tubing down the river, hiking, and so much more.
Boone is located approximately 30 minutes away and Sugar Mountain, Hawksnest, Appalachian Ski Mountain is all less than an hour away. Tweetsie Railroad is only a short 35 minute drive away.
We require a 2 night minimum for off peak seasons
3 night minimum for holidays and the entire month of October (leaf season)
4 night minimum for the Thanksgiving holiday (Wed - Sunday)
7 night minimum for the July 4th and Christmas/New Year holidays
Important Notes:
***The cabin is access by steep graveled roads. However, you it may be necessary to have 4X4 vehicles with tire chains during the winter months.
***The owners use outdoor surveillance cameras to ensure that their home remains safe. No cameras monitor the inside rooms of the home.
***There is no land-line phone in this cabin. Cell phone coverage is not guaranteed. The home does have WIFI so you may be able to call using WIFI calling.
***No Smoking inside the cabin
***Minimum age requirement is 25 years old

As you plan your trip to the mountains, please remember we do get rain, snow and some foggy days and occasional inconveniences which are out of our control. Winter weather in the Blue Ridge Mountains can occur from November through April. The majority of our homes are accessed by mountain roads, which will be icy and slick in winter weather. For the sfety of you and your party, please be prepared to drive in snow and ice. This means 4-wheel drive, good tires, and/or chains. It is your responsibility to be prepared for hazardous road conditions
