Come stay " On Broadway"
This old house was built in 1943 by a family that lived here locally. They first lived in a small cottage behind this home. It was a corn crib. Then later they ordered this house through a mail order catalog back then it was Sears. It was cut at the factory and each board had numbers on them. How they were put together; As then they had no electric skill saws or power tools. Only hand tools. It was shipped by train and came into the Hendersonville Train Station.
They then took their truck to the station and picked it up and brought it to the land here on Brevard Road.
It was then erected and this had two Sears house that were put together to make it a larger home.
The character of these old homes had no inside bathrooms. So later they bought the added addition that is why the small room down stairs juts out from the side. Like an add on room. This was a added addition to have a bathroom.
Then later on upstairs they took the two large bedrooms and divided them to make another bathroom upstairs. It is really unique how they built this house.
I acquired this house from an heir that was no kin to these people. It was really in need of some tender love and care so in November 2015 I bought this house. We breathed life back into this old house. Now it has come to fruition and we can now share it with others.
So I invite you to come and look at the detail and I have pictures of before showing you the first of the shell of this house but with much vision that we both have we breathed life back into every nook and cranny of the old house.
The neighbors that drive by and have lived here for years down this road stop in and tell me how much they appreciate the old house back in its grandeur days. Beautiful lights on the front of the house and as well as the back. They say " its majestic" when they drive by in the late afternoons as they turn the little curve in the Brevard Road how it makes them smile.
So I think this house is pretty special in my eyes and hope it will make you smile as well.
It has a brand new natural gas furnace installed, with window air conditioning but will later have central air.
We installed a beautiful fire board Mantle piece made of Walnut and black onyx in the front of it on the wall in the living room and it now houses a set of gas logs. So you can warm your feet and have
the ambiance on a cold winters night.
This house is close to fifth avenue and is in direct line to a wonderful walk downtown Hendersonville, North Carolina to main street.
Where you can walk on sidewalks or drive or ride your bicycle. To enjoy the summer nights and as well as the fall air and of course the winter days would be a great outing.
