4 Bedroom Ski Chalet in Frank, Newland
This newly renovated property is just north of Newland in sight of the Mountain Glen Golf Course and adjacent to the Cherokee National Forest! It is close to the Blue Ridge Parkway (17 min), Grandfather Mtn. (21 min), Roan Mtn. (21 min), Beech Mtn. (33 min), Sugar Mountain Mtn. (21 min), Linville Falls (21 min), and Linville Caverns (26 min)! The comfortably furnished living area and master bedroom on the 2nd floor have cathedral/ vaulted ceilings with exposed beams and the living area has clerestory windows and multiple French doors with panoramic views. The chalet is easily accessed via a 0.3 mile fully paved (and newly repaired and resurfaced!) road with level paved parking for 3-4 vehicles (4 wheel drive is recommended during Winter months when ice/ snow may be present). The 2nd floor adjoins a large private deck (18 ft off ground) and is accessed from an elevated walkway from the paved parking area (no stairs!). There are decks on each floor that feature long range views to the North and East. Both decks have covered areas and seating for six total. House is furnished Family Friendly with no breakable or dangerous furnishings within reach of children. The chalet is equipped with two 42 inch Spectrum Cable TVs (86 viewing channels) and high-speed (40 MBit/sec) Wi-Fi internet. Hundreds of free movies are available by pressing "on-demand" on the remote and selecting "free-movies". The Master Bedroom has a Roku TV . DVDs for children and adults are available, as well as board games and jigsaw puzzles, plus novels and art books.
The 2nd floor features the main living area with hardwood floors, leather couch and loveseat, and oversize lounge chairs, master suite with walk-in closet and newly remodeled full bathroom, and main deck with barbeque grill (propane provided), four chairs, table and covered seating. In addition, there is a writing desk and charging station. Downstairs (1st floor and not a basement) has three additional bedrooms (two with long range views), a full bathroom, and separate laundry room, with a second elevated covered deck and two chairs. The chalet is air conditioned and heated. All rooms have generous sized windows. All bedrooms and living area have ceiling fans. The chalet has newer stainless steel appliances in the fully equipped kitchen. Newer LG washer and dryer in separate laundry room!
The bedrooms are fully furnished. The Master bedroom has a King size bed (Gel infused memory foam/ innerspring hybrid mattress - New 2019) with walk-in closet. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed and the third bedroom has a full-size bed (new 2017). The fourth bedroom has a twin bed (good for adult). The property is situated on a double lot with 2/3 of an acre and with more than fifteen 20+ ft Christmas trees displaying greenery year round. Numerous rhododendrons are located on the property. The occasional deer and wild turkey have been spotted in the yard from the decks. There are no next door neighbors to the North, East or, South. There is a neighbor to the West, but located across Mason Lane and up the hill.
The house is conveniently located within 3 mins to Ingles, the largest supermarket in Avery County, with a Deli and large wine selection. Newland (5 mins) is the Avery County Seat and houses the county library and courthouse and all county support agencies. There is a free historical museum at the jailhouse. Downtown there is a CVS and a river walk which has been setup as a park and dog walk at the confluence of several rivers. The Newland area is home to many Christmas tree farms. The chalet is close to Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain ski resorts (try the ski-lifts to the top), Grandfather Mountain (long-range views plus wild animal park and museum), Roan Mountain state park with masses of Rhododendrons, and the Blueridge Parkway. Linville Falls and caverns are less than 30 minutes away. Blowing Rock (upscale shopping village) is 40 minutes.
Newland restaurants are 5 minutes away! Try Kaye's Kitchen for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Also try Carolina Barbeque, Riverwalk Pizza, Nguyens Asian Grill or Miyoshi, or Puerto Nuevo Taqueria for dinner. There is even a McDonalds, BoJangles, Subway and Hardees! Banner Elk restaurants are only 20 mins away.
There is a10% weekly (7 days) and 15% monthly (28 days) discount. Note that there is no damage insurance required and no deposit. Instead I am self-insured and charge a $40 property fee, which is less than the VRBO minimum damage insurance option of $59 that can range to over $100 or a deposit of $400-$1000+. I also have a separate policy that will cover renter damage to the home itself. No charge will be made for accidental damages but please be respectful of my property! Please provide an accurate count of the number of guests so sufficient towels and linens are provided. The maintenance man lives just up the street.
