Clouds Rest Retreat is the perfect balance of high-end luxury living and comfort found in an upscale mountain cabin. Our 3400 square foot cabin comes equipped with everything you need to enjoy your time in Yosemite and ample space to allow for comfortable social distancing. Our cabin provides extra privacy as it is located between two undeveloped lots owned by our quiet and long time neighbors.

As you enter the open concept main floor, you walk into the living room centered around the floor to ceiling gas-assisted fireplace. There is plenty of comfortable seating to both gather around the fireplace and to take in the vistas available from the expansive windows.

The living room adjoins the spacious dining room. Use this for your morning cup of coffee while taking in the spectacular views. Enjoy it with your family and friends also for lunch and dinner around the large, inviting solid oak table with bench seating for 10 guests.

The living room opens into our fully equipped, spacious, high-end kitchen. There you will find everything a chef could want including a double over, a six-burner range, a warming drawer, a large refrigerator/freezer, two sinks, a pot filler faucet, a built-in microwave, a kitchen island, and plenty of kitchenware. Should you want to prepare a Swiss themed dinner, we also have a raclette set and a fondue set at your disposal.

Tucked in the back for maximal privacy along the main floor is one of the three relaxing en-suite bedrooms. Like all of our bedrooms, it has a queen bed with a combination tub/shower bathroom. All bathrooms also come with body soap/shampoo/conditioner dispensers and complimentary toiletries in individual packets.

The laundry room is located in the remaining area of the main floor. It is equipped with dual washer/dryer units, a laundry sink, and an enclosed half bath. The back door of the laundry room will lead you to the spacious wrap-around deck. There you will find a brand new, gas plumbed BBQ (no running out of gas) perfect for your grilling needs. Enjoy your meals outside with a brand new outdoor table and bench seating for six or have a seat in one of the four, brand new comfortable Adirondack chairs and take in the mountain air.

Going up the staircase from the entrance will lead you to two more en suite bedrooms. Each of these has a very comfortable queen bed, plenty of closet space, and a dresser drawer for your use. Like the bedrooms, each bathroom is tastefully furnished. The bathrooms are equipped with a tub/shower combination for your use.

Also upstairs, there is a loft with a 60 inch, flat-screen TV where you can enjoy our collection of classic and newer DVDs (mostly geared to the adult audience). Or, if you prefer, you can also do some stargazing. This loft has a new sleeper sofa that comfortably sleeps two adults and is listed as a loft (Vrbo does not have a category for non-sleeping bedroom areas).

The ground-level entry floor has comfortable seating arrangements and the second 60 inch flat-screen TV and a collection of classic and newer DVDs (mostly geared to the younger audience). There are two double and two single futons that convert into comfortable sleeping arrangements. This is listed as bedroom #4 (Vrbo does not have a category for non-bedroom sleeping areas).

Between the 3 bedrooms, sleeper sofa, and downstairs futons, our cabin can very comfortably accommodate 10 guests with plenty of room for everyone to stretch out.

Like most of Yosemite West, cell phone reception is spotty at best. We highly recommend you bring a phone card with you for long-distance phone calls (though all local numbers are free).

The driveway and paved area can easily accommodate up to 3 vehicles so no one has to move their car to let someone else out. It is steep and like any part of Yosemite National Park, subject to winter driving conditions. There is a contracted plowing service, but chains or cables are required by park services to be carried during the winter months.

You will have access to the entire cabin except for several locked closets (for the owners' personal items).

While it is not handicapped accessible, it is manageable for guests able to navigate one flight of stairs at a time while being at a 6300-foot altitude.

Our cabin is located in Yosemite West. This is the closest privately owned area within the boundaries of Yosemite National Park, California, United States. It is a quiet, residential neighborhood that is perfect for family reunions.

It has remained nature friendly by avoiding commercialization. This, however, means there are no dining options or shops in this part of the park. Most facilities (gas, dining, shops) are located about a 30-minute drive away on the Yosemite valley floor.

There are several relaxing trails and walks one can get to from the cabin. The Deer Camp Road Trailhead starts just opposite of the turnoff you take to enter Yosemite West. This relatively flat, 8.6-mile trail leads to other trails used to access multiple parts of the park and rarely has any vehicles parked there. It is a perfect jump-off point to explore the park in solitude!

Winter (early November to March) guests need to have chains or cables as chain control is in effect at the park entrance and the National Park Service requires you to carry them in your vehicle. Additionally, like many driveways in the area, ours is steep, and having a vehicle ready for winter conditions will allow easier passage.

There are no cancellations due to weather or other events beyond our control. Because of this, we highly recommend you purchase travel insurance. Rain, snow, or shine, Yosemite is open all year long and you should be prepared for all weather conditions (which makes the park even more beautiful).

Being in the middle of a national park, our neighborhood and property get our share of furry visitors like deer, squirrels, the occasional nighttime coyote, and other animals native to the area.

Both early check-ins and late check-outs are occasionally available as long as we have sufficient time to follow the AirBNB enhanced cleaning protocol for COVID 19. Your health and safety are our priorities.

There are some non-perishable pantry items and snacks that you are welcome to enjoy. There is a new Nespresso coffee maker with a starter supply of pods. There also is a new Keurig coffee maker with a supply of pods that can also make regular coffee.

Mariposa County, for a variety of reasons including its low population density, has been relatively spared from COVID 19 cases. Our cabin is in compliance with COVID 19 precautions as per the California Department of Public Health.
