An owner-built custom timber, pegged barn-like home made ala’ Amish style! | Other in Raleigh

2 Bedroom Place in Raleigh
Do you love the old barns and homes when all of the beams were built by craftsmen using wood pegs instead of nails or screws? If so, you will love the rustic charm of the open beams and barn look of this home, which was completed in 2023.
Completely custom in every way, including barn-like pocket doors throughout. The hand tools of five generations are on display in the den, along with aerial photos of the farms where family members lived. These tools (and others) were used to construct the home, and the craftsmanship abounds in every detail. You most certainly never seen a home like this!
No expense was spared in the construction. Only the highest quality materials were used, and the beams themselves were taken from the land - 7 acres - on which it sits.
The owner/builder is the 6th in a line of craftsmen who specialized in various building trades, going back to the mid 1700’s when Levi Pfeiffer ran a planing mill in Neelyton and Shade Gap, Pa. 5 generations later, Bill Piper and his wife Vivian Piper constructed the Generations Lodge in honor of the generations that came before. The stone fireplace in the living room, and the brick fireplace in the Master Bedroom are signature masonry skills in honor of his father and grandfather Harold L and Ralph Maurice Piper. The fireplaces can be used any time, 24/7 as they are top of the line LED, and do not put out heat (not necessary in the south!).
Speaking of the south, there are 11 ceiling fans to help keep you cool, whether you’re inside or on either of the porches!
The kitchen includes all stainless steel top-of-the-line appliances, including a massive stove with a built-in air fryer.
A massive refrigerator has ice and water in the door, and additional ice in the freezer.
A coffee bar is fully stocked and a Keurig is available if you’d prefer hot chocolate, tea, or some other hot drink.
The guest bath has a walk-in tub with music and physical therapeutic or champagne jets that provide a soothing physical and mental massage!
The Master enSuite consumes 1/3 of the first floor, entered via a massive 9 feet high, 8 feet wide double pocket door with handicap accessibility, a king size bed, a glassed shower, and a heated bidet.
Upstairs you’ll find 2 double beds, a sitting area, an 8’ pool pool table, a game table, sound system, plenty of games/videos/puzzles and a nice view of the natural gardens behind the 150’ retaining wall. Deer and other wildlife can often be seen in this area.
The front yard includes a covered front porch and an open sitting area in the midst of flora and fauna for your relaxation and pleasure.
In the rear is another covered porch and sitting, as well as a stocked fire pit for romantic evenings discussing your hopes and dreams.
The Generations Lodge is located at the end of the freshly paved Britt Valley road, and on property that’s been in the family for over 100 years, the location is private, but close in.
10 minutes in any direction from shopping and restaurants. 20 minutes from downtown Raleigh, and 10 minutes from a large selection of restaurants, retail stores, and grocery stores, including WalMart, Aldi, Food Lion, and many others!
