3 Bedroom House in Bostic
In the Foothills of NC, this unique home has three bedrooms, (one on each floor) two full baths and a cozy loft with a queen sofa bed. This is a very comfortable and well equipped home. It is surrounded by fifty acres of quiet, private land, covered with mature forests; the setting will give you the privacy and quiet you crave. The driveway up to the home is one half mile and privately maintained. There is pavement at the beginning and gravel all the way to the top. The house is at the end of the road on the right at the top. The driveway is steep, but most cars and SUV's have no issue. In really bad weather you might you may have to give it a little more gas. This is the price we pay for a prized location!
The view from the front porch is of the South Mountain State Park, a great place to sit and rock for awhile. There is no light pollution and on clear nights you can easily see the Milky Way without a telescope. You may want to pack one though. Asheville is only 50 miles, and makes a terrific day trip as does Black Mountain the Blue Ridge Parkway and Morganton, NC. For horse lovers and spectators, Tryon International Equestrian Center is only about 30 minutes away. Only one hour and fifteen minutes from Charlotte, this home makes a perfect weekend retreat from city life.
WiFi
We have 5G and 4G WI-Fi throughout the home. There is an Ooma internet phone system for making and receiving calls throughout the USA at no charge. This includes 911 service. Cell phone coverage depends on your carrier. Connect your phone to the WI-Fi and make crystal clear calls. Or simply unplug and forget about it.
Additional Space
Located higher up on the property is a very cool modern Studio Apartment with panoramic views, kitchen and full bath. This unit sleeps two adults with a Queen size fold down "Murphy" bed. It works well for larger groups staying together or just a couple's romantic getaway. Sunset toasts and morning coffee are favorite activities on the deck. Guest access
Guests will have complete access to the house as well as the surrounding grounds and yard of wooded 7 acres. There is an old road going up the mountain behind the home
for a beautiful walk. We are located at the top of Listenberry Mountain in Golden Valley, NC. There are two yard swings, a hammock in season and a fire pit for nightly bonfires. Four Folding Camp chairs included.
Interaction with guests
We generally will be available for assistance and are very responsive to your requests for directions, recommendations, etc.
The neighborhood
The neighborhood is quiet and the closest neighbor cannot be seen in summer and is partially blocked in winter from hemlock trees. It's private. There is a Studio apt. mentioned above on the property. Occasionally we book both properties at the same time however, each has a separate parking area and are totally separated. We will also book both properties for your large party. We are easy to get along with and communicate well. We strive to make your stay the best experience and meet your expectations for your vacation.
Getting around
There are several wedding venues close by and we'd love to host your wedding party. Zimmerwald Estate, Mountain View wedding venue and Spinning Leaf and Dan's Pond are just a few. We are 20 miles in all directions from a town, so it's best to plan on groceries before you arrive. However, there is a convenience store about 1 mile away for basics including an ATM. This is what we love best about the house, it's a true getaway. Day trips are fun in all seasons. Our favorites are Asheville, Morganton & The Blue Ridge Parkway. All are just a short drive. Hiking opportunities abound in the NC Game Lands and South Mtn State Park and a local waterfall. We provide directions.
Other things to note
We have a winding half mile driveway that is steep in areas, it's easiest to navigate with a front wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle. (Especially if you are going to use a rental car--ask for one) The first time up the drive is your biggest adventure, afterward, it becomes second nature.
